Bishop Estates Swim Team

This is the Bishop Estates Swim team learn to swim program. We welcome kids ages 3-8 years old. No swim experience is required.

Our learn to swim program is designed to teach basic fundamentals of learning to swim freestyle and backstroke. Throughout the session you will see your child learn lots of new tools to help them become awesome swimmers. You will notice that the swimmers will be broken into 3 groups; beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each group will learn the same thing.

You will expect to see:

Kicking with kick boards, streamlining, side breathing intro, and much much more.

The ultimate goal of this program is to get all swimmers ready to swim on our swim team.

The shared goal of the Mini Cudas program is for swimmers to complete 25 yards freestyle without stopping. Mini Cudas receive instruction from the head coach and assistant coach with 13-18 year old swim team Junior Coaches and Mini Coaches in the water assisting Mini Cudas. The instructor to swimmer ratio is 2:1.

There are 2 sessions to choose from. Your child is allowed to register for all sessions if space is permitted. 

SESSION 1 (Closed - Session is Full):

Registration Fee: $325 per swimmer (Returning 2025 Mini Cudas $300)

Program Dates: Tuesday 4/14/26 through Thursday 5/7/26

Location: Bishop Estates Cabana Club, 1812 Jefferson Street, Concord, CA 94521

Practice Days: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (NO PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAYS and FRIDAYS)

Practice Time: 4:00pm to 4:30pm

Length of Practice: 30 minutes

Practice Dates: Tuesday 4/14/26, Thursday 4/16/26, Monday 4/20/26, Tuesday 4/21/26, Thursday 4/23/26, Monday 4/27/26, Tuesday 4/28/26, Thursday 4/30/26, Monday 5/4/26, Tuesday 5/5/26, and Thursday 5/7/26.

Key Dates:

• NO PRACTICE ON MONDAY 4/13/26 (program starts Tuesday, 4/14/26)
• NO PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAYS AND FRIDAYS 
• KICKBOARD RACE / SHOWOFF SKILLS, Thursday 5/7/26, on the last day of practice friends and family are welcome to come cheer on your swimmers and see them participate in a kickboard race and showoff all of the skills they have learned this session! A sweet treat will be served afterwards.
• BISHOP BASH, Monday 6/8/26 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, meet starts at 5:30pm (kickboard race starts then)

Mini Cudas from Session 1 (4/14/26 - 5/7/26) will be invited to attend and participate in our annual Bishop Bash on Monday, June 8, 2026. At the start of the meet there is a kickboard race your swimmer can participate in FOR FREE. If they would like to register to swim in any additional events (i.e. 25 yard freestyle, 25 yard backstroke, etc.) they can signup for $5 per event. Bishop Bash is an 8 and under invitational event hosted by Bishop Estates Swim Team annually to raise funds for our swim team. We have several free games and activities for the kids to earn prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and lots of great food at our snack shack. Come join in on the fun and see what swim team is all about!

Can your swimmer join the team?

At the end of the session, if your swimmer is able to swim the length of the pool, he/she will be asked (by coach) if they would like to join the swim team for the rest of the swim season.

Fees are as follows to complete the registration to join the team if invited by the coach:

- Registration Form to be completed online

First-time Mini Cuda participants transferring to the swim team will have their registration fee applied in full to the team registration.

Returning Mini Cuda participants (second time or more) transferring to the swim team will have their Mini Cuda registration fee credited toward  the swim team registration fee and will need to pay the difference between the two fees

- Fundraising Fee: You can choose to do the fundraising deposit of $200 or fundraising buy out of $300. 

- Non-Cabana Club Member Splash Fee: There is a $250 non-cabana club member splash fee per family unless your family is a member of the Bishop Estates Cabana Club for the 2026 season, then the fee is waived.

- Work Deposit Fee: The work deposit fee is waived; however, families are expected to volunteer at home meets and invitational meets that their swimmer attends. We rely on volunteer support to run our meets and are happy to provide training for any roles.

Is my child ready to join the Mini Cudas Learn to Swim Program?

• Must be at least 3 years old by the time their session starts
• Is comfortable in the water and enters pool voluntarily. If your child cries or is resistant to participate, they may not be ready for this program.
• Is able to float and kick on front and back with support
• Is able to exhale underneath water surface (i.e. blow bubbles)
• Is able to hold onto the wall and show attentiveness to the coach

Additional Information

Program Placement: Coaches will assess swimmers throughout the session to ensure appropriate placement and readiness. If a swimmer is determined to be too advanced for the Mini Cudas program, the coach will recommend transitioning to the swim team and provide next steps for registration.

If a swimmer is not yet ready to participate safely and successfully in a group setting (e.g., is consistently unable to follow instructions, is highly distressed, or disrupts the class), the program may not be the right fit at this time. In such cases, the program retains the right to remove the swimmer, even after registration.

Refund Policy: If a swimmer is removed from the program by the coaching staff due to program fit or readiness, a prorated refund will be issued for any remaining, unused sessions. No refunds will be provided for sessions already attended.

Registration will be limited to 10 kids per session in order to maintain a safe coach-to-swimmer ratio. Our youngest and least experienced swimmers need small groups and ample space to learn and practice their developing skills.

If the Mini Cudas programs have reached capacity upon your attempt to register, you may add your name to the Mini Cudas Waiting List. If a spot on the program becomes available, we will notify the waitlisted families in order. Each family will have 24 hours to respond before we move to the next family on the list.
