Invitationals
Invitational Meets are meets Bishop Estates Swim Team attends and competes in as a team, by invitation of the hosting team. Unlike regular dual meets, invitationals are a fundraiser for each host team so they cost money to compete in. Since this is a fundraiser for the hosting team they invite many teams to come compete.
Swimmers will be required to pay their own entry fees for all invitationals, except City Meet. Information will be communicated by email to parents a few weeks ahead for each invitational. This is not part of registration fees.
Bishop Bash
Invitational hosted by our team, Bishop Estates Swim Team. This event is for 8 and under swimmers only to participate in. Swimmers compete against other swimmers the same age as them. This is a great opportunity for younger swimmers to experience an invitational in a smaller less intimidating setting. Our 9 and up swimmers are expected to sign up for jobs and are expected to be on deck to help run the meet.
Battle of the Ages
Invitational hosted by Pleasant Hill Dolfins. This event is for all swimmers to participate in. At this meet swimmers compete against other swimmers of their own age. There is no up year or down year. For example if you are 11, you will only swim against other 11 year olds. It's a particularly fun swim meet for swimmers who are in their "down" year.
Crossings Challenge
Invitational hosted by Walnut Country Swim Team. This event is for B level swimmers. The meet is broken up into A (faster) and B (slower) divisions, but only the B division gets medals. Divisions are determined by entry times, and each swimmer may end up in a different division for different strokes dependent upon their entry times.
City Meet
Invitational hosted by several local teams (Pleasant Hill Dolfins, Walnut Country Swim Team, Gehringer Park Swim Team, Dana Hills Swim Team, Oakhurst Country Club, Ygnacio Wood Swim Team, Bishop Estates Swim Team, and Martinez Community Swim Team). This is our last swim meet of the season before the County Championship meet. We are expecting all of our Mount Diablo Swim League teams to participate along with many other teams in the area. This meet is HUGE, so all families are expected to work. Job assignments are not assigned to us until one to two weeks before the actual meet, therefore we do not know how many assignments a family is expected to work until closer to that date. We will take the amount of jobs and distribute them evenly among all of the families. This will result in all families working more than one assignment. We need all hands on deck!
Contra Costa County Swim Championship
Invitational hosted by LMYA Swimming. This two-day event is the last invitational of the swim season held in August. All participants in individual events must have achieved a county qualifying time which is included in all of our meet entry sheets for each event. Throughout the season if a swimmer on our team qualifies for the county swim we will give them a golden cap to mark their tremendous achievement. For this event, even if a swimmer qualifies for several events they may swim no more than two individual events and two relays.
Invitational hosted by Gehringer Park Swim Team. This event is for swimmers ages 9-18 years old. This event is a great opportunity for the middle-aged swimmers to swim against their own age group, no up or down years!
